What is silica gel?

Silica gel is a porous form of silicon dioxide (SiO2). Its many tiny pores enable it to adsorb moisture from the surrounding air. This is a general property of silica gel as a desiccant material, not a feature exclusive to FUCACO products.

Because it takes up moisture while remaining solid, unlike some other desiccants that liquefy, silica gel is widely used in industrial and consumer packaging.

How is silica gel used in packaging?

In industrial packaging, silica gel is usually packed in small sachets and placed inside boxes or cartons to help control moisture around products during storage and transportation.

Some silica gel contains a color indicator (blue silica gel), allowing users to visually observe moisture uptake, unlike non-indicating white silica gel.

FUCACO silica gel

FUCACO's 2023 Company Profile shows white and blue silica gel beads in small sachets of various weights-for example 1g, 2g, 5g, 10g, 20g, 50g and 100g-as well as hanging strips for containers.

Currently available specifications and weights should be confirmed directly, as the Company Profile lists examples available at its publication date.

Selection note

Suitable desiccant materials and quantities depend on the technical and logistics conditions of each shipment. This information is general guidance, not a dosage calculator; please contact us for advice based on actual conditions.
